At Rayburn Travel Group, our people are central to our success, and we know that everyone experiences challenges, both inside and outside of work. Creating a workplace where people feel supported and able to talk openly about their wellbeing is an important part of how we look after our staff.
What is the Mental Health Team?
As part of our commitment to better supporting our staff, we created an internal Mental Health Team made up of colleagues from across the business who share a genuine desire to help and support others.
Following an internal application process, five team members were selected to become Mental Health Ambassadors. These ambassadors have since completed professional training and are now fully qualified Mental Health First Aiders, meaning they provide confidential, compassionate support to their colleagues.
Our ambassadors are here to:
- Offer a listening ear to anyone who may be struggling
- Provide a safe and confidential space to talk
- Signpost colleagues to appropriate support services and resources
- Help colleagues access professional help where needed
For many people, speaking to friends or family can feel difficult. Our Mental Health Team offers an alternative by providing trusted colleagues who understand the workplace and can help guide individuals towards the right support.
Why Mental Health Support Matters
We believe that supporting mental health in the workplace is essential. Stress, pressure and personal challenges can affect anyone, and creating a culture where people feel safe to talk openly is vital.
One of the biggest goals of our Mental Health Team is to help normalise conversations around mental health. By talking openly, reducing stigma and encouraging people to seek support early, we can help alleviate stress and create a healthier, more supportive working environment for everyone.
What We’re Doing to Support Wellbeing
Our Mental Health Team is actively involved in a wide range of initiatives designed to bring people together, raise awareness and promote wellbeing, including:
- Running a book club to encourage connection and shared interests
- Hosting mental health lunchtime walks
- Celebrating national and international mental health awareness days
- Organising fundraising events such as cake sales
- Sharing helpful posters and resources around the workplace
- Working with external organisations such as Samaritans
- Creating safe spaces for people to come together and talk
Our Mental Health Charter Commitment
Rayburn Travel Group is proud to be a Gold Member of the Mental Health Charter. This means we go above and beyond to demonstrate our commitment to mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.
As part of this:
- We have a dedicated internal wellbeing website where staff can contribute blogs and share personal stories, whether happy or challenging
- We share information about upcoming wellbeing events and awareness days
- We actively promote mental health campaigns across our internal and social media channels
- Staff have access to a wellbeing app, offering self-help tools, resources and links to other support organisations
- We provide clear signposting through posters and internal communications
Creating a Culture of Openness
The most positive outcome of our mental health initiatives is that we are talking openly and without judgement. By removing stigma and encouraging conversation, we are helping to normalise mental health in the workplace.
